A Vedic birth chart, or Kundli, is a twelve-house map calculated for a specific birth moment and place. The ascendant establishes the first house, while the Sun, Moon, planets, and lunar nodes occupy signs and houses according to their sidereal positions.

Astro Pragya uses Swiss Ephemeris calculations and the Lahiri ayanamsha. Your selected birth place supplies geographic coordinates and a time zone, which are combined with the date and time to calculate the ascendant and planetary positions.

Why birth time and place matter
The ascendant moves through the zodiac during the day, so an inaccurate time can shift house placements and sometimes the rising sign itself. Location matters because the same instant is observed differently across longitudes and time zones. Use a recorded birth time whenever possible and select the correct city rather than a similarly named place.
